About Us
Shri Someshwar Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was established in 1972 with the motto "Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya" guiding individuals from darkness to light. One of its institutions, Someshwar Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya (Someshwar Science College), was founded in 2007 in the rural Waghalwadi Grampanchayat area of Baramati Taluka, Pune District, Maharashtra. This college provides higher education opportunities to students residing in rural areas, equipping them with knowledge and skills that align with global standards. The college is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly the University of Pune). The infrastructure of the college is well-developed and supported financially by The Someshwar Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. in Someshwarnagar, Tal: Baramati, Dist: Pune 412306.
Since its establishment, the college has introduced various courses. It commenced offering the B.Sc. program in 2007, followed by B.Sc. in Computer Science in 2009, and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry in 2011. The college currently provides undergraduate courses in B.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Sc. (Microbiology), B.Sc. (Electronic Science), B.Sc. (Mathematics), B.Sc. (Computer Science), and a postgraduate program, M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry), all designed according to the curriculum of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The college located in Someshwarnagar (Waghalwadi) West part of Baramati Tehsil in area about 5 acres. College has been furnished with new building about 36,000 sqft. About 33 teaching staff and 6 non-teaching staff were working to accomplish the fulfilment man power. About 13 staff qualified NET, SET exams. About six staff pursuing their Ph.D. from reputed universities. All staff having teaching experience good academic record. Now College is in the Process of NAAC accreditation for 1st Cycle and we are confident that we will successfully defend this NAAC cycle. College has good discipline and security to all students so that about 70% admissions were of girl’s students.
We are serving the students to develop the skills of students in their discipline.
