About Us

Shri Someshwar ShikshanPrasarak Mandal was established in 1972 with the motto "Tamaso Ma JyotirGamaya" guiding individuals from darkness to light. One of its institutions, Someshwar Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya (Someshwar Science College), was founded in 2007 in the rural WaghalwadiGrampanchayat area of Baramati Taluka, Pune District, Maharashtra. This college provides higher education opportunities to students residing in rural areas, equipping them with knowledge and skills that align with global standards. The college is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly the University of Pune). The infrastructure of the college is well-developed and supported financially by The Someshwar SahakariSakharKarkhana Ltd. in Someshwarnagar, Tal: Baramati, Dist: Pune 412306.

Since its establishment, the college has introduced various courses. It commenced offering the B.Sc. program in 2007, followed by B.Sc. in Computer Science in 2009, and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry in 2011. The college currently provides undergraduate courses in B.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Sc. (Microbiology), B.Sc. (Electronic Science), B.Sc. (Mathematics), B.Sc. (Computer Science), and a postgraduate program, M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry), all designed according to the curriculum of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
